What is Smile and Dash?

“All it takes is one kind word,” my mom used to say. It’s a simple sentiment loaded with wisdom.

I’ve worked in hospitality for years, and I am continually struck by the power of kindness. Not only does the recipient benefit, but so does the giver. When we act on behalf of other people,  we feel greater comfort and less stress.

A daily practice of kindness fortifies our wiring, and we start to see the world in a positive light. Kindness strengthens relationships, improves the health of our heart, slows aging and makes us live longer. Study after study has proven that compassionate giving makes us feel good, and it also makes us stronger. We feel happier when we perform acts of kindness, and its been proven that people who are kind and compassionate are usually the most successful. I’m sure we can all attest that when we are grateful and practicing random acts of kindness, we feel inner calm, experience clear thinking, and have a heart full of love. There’s simply no downside to giving.

I wanted to make it easy to spread kindness, so I’ve created Smile and Dash. There’s something special about sharing a generous thought in writing. I have boxes of notes from friends given to me over the years, and from my spouse and children, too. Very often, a cherished message will be posted on my mirror for days, or left on my kitchen counter to greet me every morning.

I believe it’s the small day-to-day gestures that shift the energy in the world. I’m so passionate about this movement that I’m not charging for the cards. I’m not a wealthy person, just a consultant with a small business, who is finally answering a passion to promote goodwill. This isn’t a business - its a movement.

I hope you’re compelled to become a Dasher! Post your experience on #SmileAnd Dash, and email me at info@SmileAndDash.com with your stories, and I’ll post them on the website.

Have fun spreading happiness, one note at a time!

Dashingly yours,

Your Founding Dasher

P.S. I’ve chosen to remain anonymous because this movement isn’t about me. It’s about you. Thanks for dashing!
